Sequential chemo–biocatalytic synthesis of aroma compounds

Abstract: We report an eco-friendly synthesis of 2-phenylethyl acetate and 2-phenylethanol from simple starting materials. The route involves a solvent-free aldol condensation reaction followed by a biocatalytic cascade.
