Sera From Children After Cardiopulmonary Bypass Reduces Permeability of Capillary Endothelial Cell Barriers

Abstract: Contrary to the hypothesis, sera taken from children after cardiopulmonary bypass induces less capillary barrier disruption relative to sera taken from children before cardiopulmonary bypass, and none of the sera induced significant changes in expression of inflammatory genes.

“…Indeed, Angpt-2 does not affect permeability of tight junction architecture in cultured cells. 13 Specifically, there appears to be no interaction with Angpt-2 and capillary tight junction proteins such as claudin-5 or zonula occludens protein-1, or with adherens junction proteins such as VE-cadherin. Furthermore, there are currently no studies investigating the role of molecules specific for EC junctions, such as claudin-5 or VE-cadherin, in pediatric MODS.…”

“…We used human pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells (HPMECs) for our functional assays. These cells were isolated using published protocols [18] and spontaneously form tight junctions in standard culture conditions [19], a structural characteristic of alveolar endothelial cells [20]. Notably, these cells come from different donors (usually the healthy margins from adult lung resection pathology samples) than the (e) Graphical depiction of the pathway analysis generated by MetaboAnalyst showing that ascorbate and aldarate metabolism is the most statistically significant pathway with the highest impact factor.…”

Todos estes fatores permeiam a evolução do paciente submetido a tratamento (136) .…”
