“…3). It is remarkable to note that the H þ -ATPase is dephosphorylated by a protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) (Camoni et al, 2000), which has been reported to be involved in cold stress response (Pais et al, 2009;Zhao, 2015).…”

“…PP2A belongs to a major Ser/Thr phosphatase family in eukaryotic cells, and it plays crucial roles in numerous signaling pathways in animals and plants by regulating the dephosphorylation to affect the substrate conformation, cellular localization, activity, or stability (Janssens and Goris, 2001;País et al, 2009). The PP2A holoenzyme is composed of three subunits: the scaffolding subunit A that brings together the regulatory subunit B and the catalytic subunit C. There are three A genes, 17 B genes, and five C genes for PP2A subunits in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana; Farkas et al, 2007).…”

“…The PP2A holoenzyme is composed of three subunits: the scaffolding subunit A that brings together the regulatory subunit B and the catalytic subunit C. There are three A genes, 17 B genes, and five C genes for PP2A subunits in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana; Farkas et al, 2007). The five PP2A catalytic subunit genes are classified into two subfamily groups (Farkas et al, 2007;País et al, 2009): subfamily I, including PP2A-C1, PP2A-C2, and PP2A-C5, and subfamily II, including PP2A-C3 and PP2A-C4. Overexpression of PP2A-C2 decreases ABA sensitivity and alters plant response to drought, high salt, and sugar stresses, indicating that this subunit is negatively involved in ABA signaling (Pernas et al, 2007).…”

“…In Arabidopsis thaliana, PP2A has been implicated in auxin transport (Ballesteros et al 2013), abscisic acid and ethylene signaling (Kwak et al 2002;Pernas et al 2007), growth and development (Zhou et al 2004;Blakeslee et al 2008) and control of the cytoskeletal structure (Camilleri et al 2002). Recently, PP2A transcription showed to be upregulated by fungal elicitors in potato and tomato (País et al 2009) as well as in sunflower after inoculation with a necrotrophic fungus (Alignan et al 2006). Activation of these protein phosphatases can produce the phosphorylation cascade which leads to the oxidative burst and localized cell death (as evident also in the typical Rvi1-associated necrosis).…”
