Serodeconversion of HIV Antibody‐Positive AIDS Patients Following Treatment with V‐1 Immunitor

Abstract: It is extremely rare when HIV seropositive adult patients experience spontaneous loss of antibodies, that is, seroreversion. The disappearance of HIV antibodies was occasionally attributed to iatrogenic intervention—serodeconversion. Such interventions include: HAART; oral interferon; Chinese herbal remedies; and therapeutic AIDS vaccines derived from pooled blood. Oral therapeutic, alloimmune AIDS vaccine, V-1 Immunitor (V1), was administered to 60000 HIV-positive Thai patients. The administration of V1 resul… Show more

“…Complete sero-reversion had been documented in infants with early commencement of anti-retroviral therapy and in adults that took vaccines [5,24,25]. The sustained sero-reversion for 6 years after the discontinuation of therapy by the HIV patient pointed to the potentials of the herbal remedy.…”

“…This might lead to a partial or complete loss of antibody detection which is well known for HIV infected newborns or young children taking ART [5][6][7][8]. However, only a few clinical cases of seroreversion or incomplete seroconversion have been reported in HIV-1 patients starting ART as adult [9][10][11][12]. Shortening the period to which the patient is exposed to replicating and disseminating viruses tends to diminish the immune response [4,13].…”

“…Bone marrow transplantation is expensive and risky. The vaccines content and procedures were scantly documented or available to the public (Abalaka 2004;Metadilogkul et al, 2009)). Likewise not all HIV patients that were commenced on HAART early became sero-reverted (Kassutto et al, 2005).…”
