“…These numbers are close to those found in our study. More recently, the overall dengue seroprevalence in the largest North coast Colombian City, Barranquilla, was found to be 88.2%, which was higher in women (93.1% vs. 87.6%), possibly due to this group extended period of household permanence, compared to male volunteers and showed a sevenfold risk of seropositivity in individuals older than 30 years (Tuesca-Molina et al, 2018). Also, the 11.8% IgM prevalence reported there was similar to the prevalence reported in the present study.…”

“…Se observó que las familias realizan actividades para prevenir la enfermedad, lo que minimiza la aparición de larvas. Lo anterior contrasta con otros estudios realizados, donde el nivel de medidas de prevención de la familia era deficiente y estaba relacionada por el déficit de conocimiento en cuanto al nivel educativo y de la enfermedad llevando a que adopten conductas de riesgo (Ortiz et al, 2018;Tuesca-Molina et al, 2018;Villarroel Huamaní et al, 2017).…”

“…Regarding the seroprevalence found, similar studies have been conducted in several countries to test their populations for recent infection (IgM) by DENV. This was done among individuals over the age of 15 in a dengue hyperendemic area in Barranquilla, Colombia, 23 among children and adolescents under 18 years and adults of ages between 18 and 95 years old in seven municipalities of five provinces in Colombia, 24 among adults in Jamaica 25 and among individuals with suspected dengue fever in southern Odisha 26 in India and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa 27 in Pakistan, and the percentage prevalences found were 14.9%, 11.8%, 3.6%, 21.05% and 31.86%, respectively. The prevalence of DENV found in the population in southern Odisha, India (21.05%) was the closest to what was found in the present study (26.0%).…”
