“…It has been reported in the literature that AgRP, which functions as an orexigenic neuropeptide, regulates energy metabolism by increasing appetite and decreasing energy consumption, leads to weight gain by increasing food intake, and maybe a candidate gene for obesity ((Ilnytska & Argyropoulos, 2008; Shen et al, 2002). Serum AgRP levels were found to be significantly lower in patients with manic episodes compared to euthymic and control groups, and it was suggested that this might be an indicator of impaired energy homeostasis during manic episodes (Parlak et al, 2018).
