Serum amylase activity altered by the ABO blood group system in Chinese subjects

Abstract: ObjectiveThe underlying interactions between ABO blood group antigens and pancreatic exocrine tissue have been demonstrated, and serum amylase was synthesized by pancreatic ductal cells. Thus, we investigated the link between ABO blood type and serum amylase activity in Chinese subjects.MethodsOur study included 343 relatively healthy Chinese individuals, and the data were retrieved from electronic medical record database.ResultsA increased trend was observed for serum amylase activity in ABO blood type distri… Show more

“…Additionally, the establishment of the model significantly reduced the growth performance of chickens, which may be related to a reduction in feed conversion rate caused by injuries to the glandular and muscular stomachs in sick chickens. Amylase is an exocrine enzyme secreted by the pancreas and salivary glands, catalyzing the conversion of starch and glucose into smaller components ( 25 ). α-amylase is an important digestive enzyme component in the body, playing a vital role in intracellular energy transfer, muscle contraction, and ATP regeneration.…”
