“…Multivariate analysis further confirmed that SCCAg was an independent predictor of cervical squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma ( P = 0.009, OR = 0.671, 95% CI = 0.497–0.905). SCCAg is a subcomponent of TA-4 extracted from cervical squamous cell carcinoma, and its serum level can be used as one of the auxiliary indicators for the diagnosis, efficacy evaluation and prognosis prediction of cervical squamous cell carcinoma [ 23 25 , 33 35 ]. Therefore, we believe that serum SCCAg levels can play a good role in the differentiation of cervical squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma.…”

“…Serum tumor markers play an important role in the monitoring of cervical cancer and are independent prognostic factors. Many studies have confirmed that squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC-Ag), cancer antigen 125 (CA125), carcino-embryonic antigen (CEA) play an important role to evaluate prognosis, therapeutic response, local recurrence and distant metastasis in cervical squamous cell carcinoma and adenocacinoma ( Dasari et al, 2015 , Lee et al, 2021 , Zhou et al, 2017 , Huang et al, 2020 , Meng et al, 2021 , Volkova et al, 2021 , Bender et al, 2003 Jul , Kubota et al, 2019 ). For relatively concealed lesions, when no lesions that can explain the symptoms are found in the routine imaging examination and the serum tumor markers increase at the same time, MRI examinationis should be recommended to determine whether there is SEM.…”

“…SCC Ag is considered to be the most clinically valuable serum tumor marker of SCC, and its levels are usually associated with larger primary tumors, later stage, and lymph node involvement ( 8 10 ). Of note, nearly a quarter of CC patients do not have elevated SCC Ag levels ( 11 ). Furthermore, almost all CCs are related to high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infections, of which nearly 50% are HPV16 infections ( 12 , 13 ).…”
