Serum levels of interleukin-1β, luteinizing hormone, and prolactin correlate with the expression of CD45 isoforms on CD4+ peripheral blood T lymphocytes in healthy women

Abstract: The expected association between age and the CD45 isoforms expression on CD4+ T-PBL is much more obvious in men than in women. We investigated whether or not circulating factors influence the differentiation of CD4+ T-PBL. Peripheral blood samples were obtained from 56 healthy age-matched subjects (28 men and 28 women, 21-55 years old). Mononuclear leukocytes were analyzed by three-color flow cytometry. The serum concentrations of interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta), interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-… Show more

“…The pAb H-300 was recently deemed specific and useful to perform immunehystochemical assays in human tissue samples [35]. In the case of anti-PRL, we chose the mAb E-9 against a conserved sequence of PRL, previously characterized by others [36-40]. …”

“…Other pituitary hormones, such as prolactin, have important immune-regulating actions on lymphocytes and thymocytes (19,192). However, to our knowledge, the impact of acute and prolonged exercise on prolactin and the interaction of exercise with prolactin on lymphocytes have not been characterized.…”
