“…Although anti-CCP positivity is more specific in rheumatoid arthritis; positive results can occur in other autoimmune diseases such as SLE, primary Sjogren's syndrome, primary biliary cirrhosis and some infectious diseases [9][10][11][12]. Recent studies have demonstrated the presence of anti-CCP antibodies by ELISA in infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, leishmaniasis, atypical mycobacteriosis, hepatitides B and C, chagas disease, mononucleosis, yersinia and lyme disease [14][15][16][17][18][19]. Based on the findings of the recent studies, it can be stated that anti-CCP antibodies may be observed in patients with infectious diseases, particularly tuberculosis.…”

“…The levels of total globulin can be as high as 10 g per deciliter. Circulating immune complexes, autoantibodies and rheumatoid factors are present in many patients [Carvalho et al, 1983, Pearson et al, 1986, Atta et al, 2007]. Glomerulonephritis may develop, but renal failure is rare [Dettwiler et al, 2010].…”

“…Indeed, the anti-HCV positivity, although it was performed using a second generation assay, may be seen as a false positive result due to hypergamma globulinemia or, more specifically, linked to the production of IgM with rheumatoid factor (RF) characteristics. In fact, it has been reported that an increase in IgM-RF production is an autoimmune characteristic of VL [7] and it is well known that the presence of RF could interfere with correct anti-HCV detection, causing significant false positive reactivity [8]. Unfortunately, we did not perform RF before treatment and now RF is negative, so our suggestion remains speculative.…”
