Serum uric acid: Marker for atherosclerosis as it is positively associated with “atherogenic index of plasma”

Abstract: As SUA is positively associated with AIP it can be used as a supplementary marker for atherosclerosis/CVD in upper-middle-aged men.

“…Сурогатним показником наявності в кровоплині дрібних щільних частинок ЛПНЩ є АІПК, який виступає як предиктор розвитку атеросклерозу й інсулінорезистентності, оскільки є логарифмом від ліпідного співвідношення ТГ / ХС ЛПВЩ, що тісно корелює зі зниженням чутливості тканин до інсуліну. Відома асоціація гіперурикемії з інсулінорезистентністю, гіпертригліцеридемією і гіпоальфахолестеринемією дозволяє припустити, що гіперурикемія і АІПК можуть бути різними характеристиками одного й того самого фенотипу, який є наслідком інсулінорезистентності і, відповідно, станом з високим КМР [13,30]. Асоціація АІПК з ризиком виникнення ССЗ реалізується через такі властивості дрібних щільних ЛПНЩ, як тривалий час циркуляції в кровоплині; низька афінність цих частинок до відповідних ЛПНЩ-рецепторів печінки; високий ризик проникнення дрібних щільних ЛПНЩ під судинний ендотелій та низька резистентність цих ліпопротеїдних частинок до окиснення [19].…”
