“…Results of these studies showed that the scaling of equipment and playing area improve the players’ match performance, engagement, enjoyment and the development of desirable movement patterns related to motor variability. However, in badminton, the research has focused to analyze the following aspects: technical and tactical [ 30 ], physiological [ 31 , 32 ] or performance analysis [ 33 , 34 , 35 , 36 ] in elite and junior elite players, and not so much in scaling the equipment and play space for junior players. Although, some associations and federations, such as the Spanish Badminton Federation [ 37 ], in a similar way to the tennis 10’s program developed by the International Tennis Federation, do structure badminton competitions for junior players, to manipulate key task constraints.…”

“…Badminton matches are characterized by high intensity and intermittent efforts involving numerous repetitive actions and consecutive movements during rallies (Manrique and Gonzalez-Badillo, 2003;Abdullahi and Coetzee, 2017). Technical, physical, and temporal variables have been widely used in previous studies to interpret and quantify the match characteristics of badminton players, and the technical aspect has gained the most interest of the academic community, especially the singles modality (Phomsoupha and Laffaye, 2015;Chiminazzo et al, 2018;Gómez-Ruano et al, 2020a). Notational methodologies have previously been used to depict and assess the technical characteristics (serving patterns, stroke effectiveness, the effects of context-related variables, and the dynamics of scoring performance) (Phomsoupha and Laffaye, 2015;Barreira et al, 2016;Chiminazzo et al, 2018;Gómez-Ruano et al, 2020a).…”

“…The serve is very important in a game as being the star of a point, and being able to enhance the game. According to several studies, good serve lets an opponent work harder, which increases player's opportunity to obtain the score [3][4][5][6][7].…”

“…The starting and landing areas divide services into types: a short serve, a long serve, and a flick serve [8]. The good service allows an opponent to have difficulty in receiving and turning back the shuttlecock, thereby augmenting the opportunity to get a score [3,5,6,8].…”
