Servitization of public service processes with a simulation modelling approach

Abstract: This article aims to examine how the theory of co-production can be connected with servitization and digitalisation and used together for the public service development with the help of discrete-event simulation modelling to highlight time-related deficiencies of a complex public service process, which is most commonly used by patchwork families. Data was taken from the Guardianship Office in Győr (Hungary), based on which in-depth interviews were conducted. Based on the legal background and the interviews, th… Show more

“…Another process modeling project closely related to health care was in the context of social care to describe and standardize the process of solving the entrustment of children to the care of divided parents. The authors affirmed that custody of children was optimized and accelerated by the active use of process models [14]. Nevertheless, these process diagrams were never used as an annex to the legislation, as in our case.…”

“…A trend towards servitization can be observed mainly in the industry sector, however, it also manifests itself in other contexts and sectors of the economy, e.g., in the digitalization of public services processes [47]. Its importance increases and creates many opportunities and challenges both for the research field and development of the organization.…”

“…In addition to striving for simplicity, simulation models should be detailed enough to mimic reality as closely as possible [47,48]. The specification of different parameters in simulation software is essential, as they allow the software to illustrate each case in the most realistic way.…”
