“…Generally, bisabolane-type sesquiterpenoids are monocyclic compounds with a six-membered carbon ring and a side chain, but most of the isolated compounds in this study contain an extra tetrahydrofuran ring (1−17) or a tetrahydropyran ring (18−21), which was constructed by forming an oxygen bridge between C-7/C-10 and C-7/C-11, respectively. Suitable single crystals of eight compounds (1,4,9,10,15,18,19,21) were obtained in this study, and structure analysis of all isolated compounds is strongly supported by these single-crystal X-ray diffraction experiments. Our results also corroborate structures of previously reported compounds from the Asteraceaous plants, nearly all of which possess the 1S,7S-configuration.…”

“…More than 100 species are used as folk medicines for the treatment of malaria, bacterial infections, worms, fever, wounds, diabetes, etc . Sesquiterpenoids were identified as the main metabolites of the genus, including germacranolides, elemanolides, guaianolides, eudesmanolides, and elemanolide dimers. Those compounds exhibited antitumor, , anti-inflammatory, antivirulence, and antitrypanosomatid activities . Previous investigations also revealed the existence of triterpenes, flavonoids, alkaloids, and phenols. , …”

“…PTGS2 is widely used as an inflammatory marker of skin inflammation and is related to the pathogenesis of skin injury ( 29 , 30 ). The matrix metalloproteinase MMP9 regulates CXCL8 and VEGFA and participates in inflammatory responses ( 31 ). MMP9 has been shown to be involved in skin wound healing ( 32 ).…”

“…Frontiers in Pharmacology frontiersin.org 13 have shown that levels of IL1β, IL6, and TNF are significantly associated with the intensity of systemic inflammation (Del Valle et al, 2020). MMP9, usually expressed in inflammatory cells, is a known activator of inflammatory cytokines like TNF and IL1β (Cheeran and Munuswamy-Ramanujam, 2020). AKT1, a significant subtype of serine/threonine kinase (AKT), regulates macrophage innate immunity by producing mitochondrial H 2 O 2, and its levels are crucial for stimulating inflammatory reactions (Tang et al, 2017).…”
