Set-up and input dataset files of the Delft3d model for hydrodynamic modelling considering wind, waves, tides and currents through multidomain grids

Abstract: This article contains the set-up and input files of the implementation of Delft3D model to determine extreme hydrodynamic forces performed in Rueda-Bayona et al. [1]. The model was configured with a multidomain grid using double-way communication between the hydrodynamic and wave module. The multidomain grids solve faster than single and nested grids because require less grid points to calculate. Also, the double-way communication between the hydrodynamic and wave modules allows to consider the non-linear inte… Show more

“…Based on the data of exchanged water body volume, the box model method was adopted to calculate the environmental capacity in accordance with the physical change of pollutants in the water body and indicate the physical diffusion ability of the water body. Delft 3D (numerical simulation software) was employed to create a hydrodynamic force model of the tide and simulate the tidal field of Haizhou Bay [36][37][38][39].…”

“…This study aims to understand the physical interactions of various near-shore processes and simulate the hydrodynamic environment of the near-shore region of the North Goa coast, using Delft3D software. Many researchers worldwide have successfully implemented Delft3D to study various coastal processes (Elias et al 2001;Luijendijk 2001;Van Rijn and Walstra 2003;Treffers 2008;Rueda et al 2020aRueda et al , 2020b. The wave, tidal and current information are equally useful in designing various coastal development including recreational activities, construction of coastal protection measures, etc.…”
