Settlements and dwellings of Adyghe people

Abstract: The article discusses the differences and monotony of the traditional types’settlements of the Circassians, the forms of estates and courtyards.All the main elements of the dwelling are considered in detail: its layout, building material and construction technique, the shape of roofs, the structure and types of hearths and their location, interior, home furnishings and utensils etc. The article covers the period IV - XIX centuries.
