Setups for harmonics generation using optical modulators

Abstract

In this study, we discuss two setups for photonic generation of harmonics of an RF signal. In the first case, we analyze theoretically a setup composed of a fiber loop and a 2 Â 1 MachZehnder modulator able to produce even harmonics of an RF signal. Following, we show the experimental results of the generation of second and third harmonics of an RF signal using double amplitude modulation.
