Abstract: Purpose:Latanoprost is known to have several ocular side effects, including redness of the eyelids, lengthening of the eyelashes, an increase in iris pigmentation, and dryness of the eyes that causes discomfort. There are also several rarer systemic side effects reported in the literature, including chest pain.Case Report:Here we report a rare case of a patient who developed a cutaneous blistering rash on both eyelids, both sides of the neck, and the dorsum of both hands after direct contact with latanoprost e… Show more

“…Since prostaglandin F2α is a known vasoconstrictor, systemic adverse effects are possible in vulnerable aged patients [40], [41]. It was recently reported that latanoprost eye drop causes cutaneous blistering rash of eyelids, the neck and dorsum of hands, which resolved with cessation of treatment [42]. A meta-analysis by Tang et al, observed that latanoprost was better tolerated compared to travoprost or bimatoprost [43].…”

“…Lichenoid drug eruption from ophthalmic latanoprost Dear Editor, Ophthalmic preparations are an important but often overlooked medication that can cause contact dermatitis and systemic drug reactions ranging from acute anaphylaxis, toxic epidermal necrolysis, fixed drug eruption, blistering dermatitis, and lichenoid drug reaction. 1,2 Systemic drug reactions can occur because only 2% to 10% is able to penetrate the cornea, with the remainder entering the systemic circulation because of the highly vascular conjunctival vessels. 3 We report the case of a 70-year-old man who was prescribed latanoprost drops for treatment of glaucoma and developed extensive lichenoid drug eruption (LDE) that resolved after cessation of the topical latanoprost.…”

“…1 Kratom induces a stimulant-like effect at smaller doses and euphoric/sedative-like effects at high doses; users generally have higher baseline substance abuse profiles compared to non-users. 2 Estimated prevalence of kratom use in the US is 0.8%, however, this is likely underestimated. Touted for its ability to help combat opiate use disorder, kratom contains two major active ingredients, psychoactive alkaloids 7-hydroxymitragynine and mitragynine, which act as mu opioid partial agonists.…”
