Abstract:Patients with diabetes mellitus can experience hyperglycemia, which affects brain function and produces cognitive impairment or neurodegeneration. Neuroinflammation is an important cause of cognitive dysfunction. Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors are antihyperglycemic agents that reportedly possess anti-inflammatory properties and may produce beneficial cognitive effects. We hypothesized that SGLT2 inhibitors alleviate hyperglycemia-related inflammation in brain immune cells. Cultured BV-2 micr… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
