ABSTRAK Bencana alam longsor di Desa Kuatae, Kecamatan Kota Soe sering terjadi pada musim hujan. Longsor telah menyebabkan rusaknya rumah dan infrastruktur lainnya. Penelitian longsor dilakukan dengan pemetaan geologi teknik, pengeboran geologi teknik, uji laboratorium, analisis kestabilan lereng, dan identifikasi opsi penanggulangan. Berdasarkan hasil pemetaan, longsor terjadi dalam dua model, yaitu blok batugamping terumbu yang mengalami longsor translasi di atas napal dan batulempung serta longsor rotasi pada napal yang dikontrol oleh lapisan dasar yang kontak dengan batulempung. Hasil uji penetrasi standar pada batulempung dan napal menunjukkan nilai konsistensi yang sangat tinggi. Hasil analisis kestabilan lereng menunjukkan lereng dalam keadaan stabil tapi ternyata longsor masih terjadi di beberapa tempat pada area napal dan batulempung. Hal tersebut mengindikasikan bahwa material batuan mengalami degradasi kuat geser pada beberapa kondisi. Penelitian lebih lanjut terkait degradasi material batuan, seperti sifat tahan lekang dan lempung mengembang sangat penting untuk menentukan opsi penanggulangan yang paling tepat dilakukan pada kasus longsor di Desa Kuatae.ABSTRACT Landslides in Kuatae Village, Kota Soe District often occur during the rainy season. The slope failures cause damage to houses and other infrastructures. The research of slope failure has been carried out by using engineering geological mapping, engineering geological drilling, laboratory test, slope stability analysis, and identification of countermeasure options. Based on the mapping results, slope failures occur in two models, the first one was coral limestone blocks translation failure over marl and claystone, and the second one was rotation failure on marl that controlled by the base layer which contact with claystone. The result of the standard penetration test on claystone and marl showed a very high consistency value. The slope stability analysis had shown the slope is in a stable state, but slope failure occurred in several places on the marl and claystone area. Those indicated that the material had encounter shear strength degradation under several circumstances. Further investigation on the degradation of the rock material, such as slake durability and swelling clay are very important to determine the most appropriate countermeasure option to be applied in the landslide case of Kuatae Village.

The uniformity of remolded loess is crucial for engineering stability and in laboratory testing, as it affects physical and mechanical properties. It is important to have an index which can accurately and conveniently evaluate the uniformity of remolded loess. This study demonstrated and verified the feasibility of using hydraulic conductivity (K) as an indicator for evaluating the uniformity of remolded loess through laboratory experiments and theoretical analysis. In laboratory research, nine loess samples under different preparation conditions were meticulously prepared in duplicate, which were divided into three sets according to the whole dry density (WDD) of approximately 1.3 g/cm3, 1.4 g/cm3, and 1.5 g/cm3 respectively. For the nine duplicate samples, two procedures were performed for each of the sample. One is the uniformity analysis by cutting the soil column and weighing. The other is the hydraulic conductivity experiment. Results showed that sample uniformity is affected by sample preparation conditions, and there are differences in the uniformity of the same WDD samples. The values of K positively correlate with the degree of sample uniformity. In theoretical analysis, based on Darcy’s Law and Kozeny-Carman equation, it is found K is inversely proportional to the variance ($$\sigma^{2}$$ σ 2 ) of the sample dry density. That is, K is positively proportional to the sample uniformity. Since K can be easily determined in the laboratory, the application of this new index in the field of geotechnical engineering makes it very convenient and simple to evaluate the uniformity of remolded loess.

The paper discusses approaches to improvement of equipment for borehole drilling with a predetermined trajectory in construction of underground utility systems and facilities. Piercing method allows implementing dry drilling of boreholes with small diameter using simple technical equipment. The methods used when preparing the research are analysis, generalization, and experimental research methods. Outcomes of the research include evidence that increase in performance of vibro-impact piercing is possible not only due to higher impact energy, but also due to optimization of interaction between the operating tool and soil. Combination of dynamic action by impact pulses and static forces applied to the drilling equipment enables to enhance performance of impact pulse action and increase the drilling speed. Accuracy of the borehole trajectory can be provided by using dynamic stabilizers or correcting the drilling direction due to asymmetrical tool shape in combination with the torque moment of a drilling equipment. The study formulates requirements to design of a drilling unit for directed pilot hole drilling by dynamic piercing method. The design of an improved pneumatic tool installed in front of the drill string and equipped with asymmetrical front head is described. Experimental research results are given on the process of a borehole drilling using the described tool.
