Shear Stress Initiates Endothelial to Mesenchymal Transition in Endocardial Endothelial Cells

Abstract: Discrete subaortic stenosis (DSS) is a congenital heart disease characterized by the formation of a fibrotic membrane below the aortic valve. The underlying cellular mechanisms of this disease are currently unknown.
