Shear zone related talc mineralizations in the Veitsch nappe of the eastern Greywacke Zone (Eastern Alps, Austria)

Abstract: g/cm ) in a pressurised helium atmosphere at 70°C for 8 hours.Multiple measurements of in-house calcite reference material were used and precision of δ18O and δ13Cmeasurement were yielded with ±0.07‰ and ±0.05‰ (1s, n=180), respectively.Oxygen isotope data are reported relative to Vienna Mean Ocean Water (VSMOW) and carbon isotopes relative to Vienna Pee Dee Belemnite (VPDB).Analyses of oxygen isotope ratios of quartz were performed were measured using a DIONEX DX-500 system at LeobenUniversity. “…Do lo mite sili ci fi ca tion is of ten observed in the hy dro ther mal en vi ron ment. The for ma tion of talk de pos its also take place but it is a rarer pro cess (Tornos, 2000;Boulvais et al, 2006;Wölfler et al, 2015). The re place ment of do lo mite by illite was no ticed by Zalba et al (2010a, b) in some stromatolite dolostone beds in the mixed car bon ate-siliciclastic se quences in the Tandilia Ba sin, Ar gen tina.…”

“…The Greywacke Zone tectonically overlies the Rannach Series. The Palten‐Liesing fault, known for hydrothermal activity at temperatures >300°C, has so far been interpreted as a purely Miocene strike slip system, associated with the Pöls‐Lavanttal and the Salzach‐Ennstal‐Mariazell‐Puchberg fault systems (e.g., Figure ; Wölfler, Prochaska, & Fritz, ; Wölfler et al., ).…”
