“…dominated spoilage in all samples, as also reported by Gram and Huss (1996) for aerobically packed fish. This is in agreement with other published studies on aerobic storage of fresh, chilled fish (Kyrana et al 1997 (Paleologos et al 2004;Pantazi et al 2008). However, the sensory rejection of untreated fish has also been associated with lower microbial counts, such as 10 6 log CFU g )1 for Pseudomonas spp.…”

“…All vacuum packed groups contained significantly lower TMA-N than air packed group. Vacuum packaging is demonstrated to have inhibitory effect on growth of microflora responsible for degradation of trimethyl amine oxide which was consistent with the results of various authors (Manju et al 2007;Pantazi et al 2008). Presence of mint extract in vacuum further improved the inhibitory effect, leading to lowest TMA-N levels.…”

“…(Sivertsvik et al, 2002;Goulas and Kontominas, 2007). However, it is recognized that O 2 could not only inhibit potential growth of anaerobes but maintain the better aroma of meat (Jayasingh et al, 2001;Sivertsvik, 2007;Pantazi et al, 2008).…”
