“…According to our previous findings , we decided to use a reference model based on monocultivar EVOO samples coming from specific production areas of interest. The model refers to a specific harvesting season and was built and intended for use within the EVOOs optimal shelf life . 1 H NMR spectra were reduced in buckets representing the entire data set, as reported in the Materials and methods, and Section 2.4 (unsupervised, PCA and supervised, PLS‐DA and OPLS‐DA) were applied.…”

“…In principle, reference and test set oils should also result from the same harvesting season. On the other hand, the EVOOs shelf life is limited and very recent work also suggests that the overall variations for Coratina cultivar based oils are small even in the case of seasons with very different climatic conditions . This methodology, which does not substitute the classical analytical approach for standard quality ranking procedures, could be very useful both for industry, and consumers by providing a tool to verify the label declaration of EVOOs from specific geographical origin.…”

“…These latter were constituted by two technical replicates from each original (C1-C5 and T-T5) batch EVOO sample (for a total of 10 C and 10 T samples), two batches oil sums: Cs = C1 + C2 + C3 + C4 + C5 and Ts = T1 + T2 + T3 + T4 + T5) (Figure 1) and nine further blends (from 10/90 to 90/10% Cs/Ts oil by 10% increase step). The analyses were performed by using 1 H-NMR spectroscopy and multivariate analysis (MVA), within the maximum optimal shelf life (12-18 months from the date of bottling) [27].…”
