“…In some studies, the percentage of complications reached 21% [14]; in our study, the percentage of complications was only 12%, and the majority of those were late postoperative complications, which is similar to the previous study by Kaelin-Gambirasio et al [14]. Nevertheless, although the complications reported in the literature are fewer for the transobturator method, there is still an elevated percentage of abrasions and lacerations acquired during the procedure, which indicates that we are obliged to further improve and refine the technique [15]. …”

“…In cases of extrusion of non-type I mesh, complete removal of as much of the material as possible is recommended. Grafts that have shown themselves to be in this category include a thermally bonded polypropylene [10,11,12], a collagen-coated polyester [13], and silicone [14,15], among others. Often, a pseudocapsule or infection associated with these materials, which fail to be incorporated by the host tissue, allows the material to be removed without much dissection or difficulty.…”

“…Most importantly, the procedure improved QOL of the patients. After tape procedure for mixed incontinence, the preoperative irritative symptoms disappeared in 65-75% of the patients [15,21]. According to the integral theory, this improvement is due to correction of the urethrovesical geometry and subsequently the function [8].…”
