Short versus longer implants with osteotome sinus floor elevation for moderately atrophic posterior maxillae: A 1‐year randomized clinical trial

Abstract: Purpose To compare the clinical, radiographic outcomes and patient satisfaction of short‐6‐mm implants and longer implants combined with osteotome sinus floor elevation (OSFE). Materials and Methods Two hundred and twenty‐five patients with 225 implants were included and randomly assigned into three groups (each group: 75 implants) using randomizing table method: group 6 mm (6 mm implants alone), group 8 mm + O (8 mm implants + OSFE) and group 10 mm + O (10 mm implants + OSFE). Outcomes measures were as follow… Show more

“…Implant placement in atrophic posterior maxilla is a challenging procedure due to insufficient bone quantity and quality (El Hage et al, 2019;Shi et al, 2019). Osteotome sinus floor elevation (OSFE) has been proven to be a predictable and less invasive approach to rehabilitate the atrophic maxilla and allow straightforward implant placement (Farina et al, 2018;Merheb et al, 2019;Raghoebar et al, 2019).…”
