Sibling Abuse

Abstract: Sibling abuse is a relatively undetected, unrecognized phenomenon. Historically, issues arising within the confines of one's own home were viewed as private family matters. Consequently, sibling abuse was beyond the purview of authorities and it was allowed to have detrimental outcomes on the lives of victims including physical, psychological, and interpersonal effects. Sibling abuse can be sexual, physical, and/or emotional. Interventions prove effective when utilized at the time of the abuse.
