Sibling Differentiation, Identity Development, and the Lateral Dimension of Psychic Life

Abstract: The lateral dimension of psychic life, lived through relationships with siblings and their substitutes, is structured around a distinct psychic challenge: to find one's unique place in a world of similar others.
