Abstract:Ichthyosis is a disorder of cornification characterized clinically by patterns of scaling and histopathological features of hyperkeratosis. Harlequin ichthyosis (HI) is caused by mutations in the ABCA12 gene which is responsible for the development of a normal skin barrier.
