Morton (1957) reported on 9,382 injections of penicillin given to 403 patients: with 5,870 injections of procaine penicillin given to 256 patients, there were nine instances of anaphy-lactic reaction, but with 3,512 injections of the longacting benethamine penicillin given to 147 patients, there was only one such case; all recovered.…”
