Significance of thyroid transcription factor 1 and Napsin A for prompting the status of EGFR mutations in lung adenocarcinoma patients

Abstract: Background: To evaluate the prompting value of thyroid transcription factor 1 (TTF-1) and Napsin A for the status of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations in an independent cohort of lung adenocarcinomas (LUADs) when genetic testing is unavailable. Methods: In this study, 976 untreated primary LUADs were retrospectively reviewed. The clinical and pathological data, including age, gender, smoking history, predictive values of TTF-1 and Napsin A, EGFR status, and tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stage were… Show more

“…The use of air conditioning as an averting behavior is highlighted by Agarwal et al (2020) who found that, in Singapore, after long periods of haze pollution, air conditioners’ usage continues at high levels to continue purifying the air and have a safe and comfortable indoor environment through this mitigation strategy. This finding can be explained by the fact that PM levels increase substantially during haze periods whereby individuals stay at home, close the windows and purify the air using air conditioners as it was also found by Ren et al (2016) for the Chinese case. Moreover, according to Yi et al (2020), electricity consumption in China increases during haze episodes because individuals stay indoors using appliances such as air conditioning to purify the air.…”

“…Agarwal et al (2020) also highlight the same result by stating that individuals stay indoors and use air conditioners to provide a safe and comfortable indoor environment. In addition, Ren et al (2016) reach the conclusion that individuals stay indoors to mitigate the increasing levels of PM2.5 by using air conditioners. Moreover, this result is highlighted by the fact that as the distance from the Zouk and Jieh power plants increase, the probability of having central air conditioning decreases.…”

“…The detection of distant metastasis is one of the most important ingredient factors for staging, individualized systemic therapeutic strategies, and prognosis evaluation 23 However, there is still a lack of accurate diagnosis methods for distant metastasis of de novo lung adenocarcinoma. Studies have shown that both imaging and TMs can be applied in diagnostic approaches for distant metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma, but the prediction accuracy of a single indicator is insufficient 14,18,19,24 . Recently, the joint application of 18 F‐FDG PET/CT and TMs in the diagnosis of recurrence and metastasis has attracted huge attentions in lung cancers 9,25 .…”
