“…Furthermore, the PBO-SN1-H0.1-reinforced composite possessed the highest ILSS of 29.2 ± 1.2 MPa, which was 40.4% higher than that of the pristine one (20.8 ± 1.6 MPa). As far as we know, the increase in ILSS achieved by our work is comparable to that of the latest reports (39−42%) 15,18,59 and superior to that of earlier reports (20−31%). 19,42,60−62 The wettability and R a of PBO fibers and the debonded morphology of corresponding composites were studied to explore the specific reasons for the improvement in the interfacial performance.…”

“…The molecular structure of PBO polymer only has a nitrogencontaining bonding, namely N═, so the N1s XPS spectrum of PBO-O has merely a characteristic peak. [49] The fitting curves of PBO-PDA appear peaks of NH and NH 2 bonding, which originating from the PDA polymer and DA monomer. [53] As shown in Table 2, the number of NH and NH 2 bonding on PBO-P5 increases continuously, confirming (PDA/PEI) coating was layer-by-layer constructed on the fiber surface.…”

“…[48] The characteristic peaks of 1620, 1500, and 1051 cm À1 correspond to the stretching vibration of C═C/C═N, aromatic C C, and C O C bonding, respectively. [49] Due to the formation deposition of PDA polymers on the PBO-PDA surface, the characteristic peaks of methyl and methylene groups appear at 2920 and 2852 cm À1 , respectively. [50] Meantime, the bending vibration of N H bonding produces the absorption peak of 1550 cm À1.…”

“…It makes the interfacial bonding strength of the final composite very low ( Cheng et al., 2018a , 2018b ; Nasser et al., 2019 ). In particular, these raw fibers could be easily peeled off or pulled out from polymer matrix under load, which seriously affects the load transfer from matrix to fiber and thereby impairs mechanical properties of the composites ( Mittal et al., 2018 ; Liu et al., 2020 ; Li et al., 2016 ). Therefore, relatively poor interfacial property is still an open challenge to achieve satisfactory CFRCs with high mechanical properties ( Wu et al., 2018 , 2021 ; Zhang et al., 2020a ; Beggs et al., 2015 ; Jia et al., 2019 ; Chen et al., 2016 ; Ma et al., 2019 ; Zhan et al., 2021 ; Garlof et al., 2016 , 2017 ).…”
