Silane‐bridged diphosphine ligand for palladium‐catalyzed ethylene oligomerization

Abstract: In this study, bis(diphenylphosphinemethyl)dimethyl silane (L1) and its palladium(II) halide complex, L1/PdCl2 (C1), were synthesized and characterized. Single‐crystal X‐ray analysis of the complex revealed bidentate coordination at the Pd center. In combination with methylaluminoxane (MAO) as co‐catalyst, C1 exhibited excellent catalytic activity and selectivity for ethylene dimerization toward butene. The maximum catalytic activity obtained from the C1/MAO system for ethylene dimerization to yield butenes wa… Show more

“…The main technologies of producing α-olefin are wax cracking method, gas method and ethylene oligomerization method. However, ethylene oligomerization is one of the most advanced production routes for the production of α-olefins [3][4][5]. Currently, many catalysts have been used for the production of linear α-olefins through the oligomerization of ethylene.…”

“…Caovilla and co‐workers reported a series of cobalt β‐diimine complexes for ethylene oligomerization that achieved high catalytic activity (2.1 × 10 6 g (mol Co ) −1 h −1 ) and high selectivity (84%) towards 1‐butene. Transition metals supported by diphosphine ligands have been investigated extensively for use in selective ethylene oligomerizations . These catalytic systems can exhibit good catalytic performance, due to their singly and weakly coordinating moieties that can readily dissociate to create a vacant site for coordination, thereby enhancing the catalytic activity .…”
