Silicon photonics interconnect based on ultra-small scalable components for multi-channel optical transceivers

Abstract: A silicon photonics based fiber interconnect is presented including an integrated nodematched-diode modulator and Ge-photo detector. Due to very small footprints, a single channel 25 Gb/s non-return-to-zero data rate corresponds to a photonic bandwidth density of about 0.5 Tb/(s·mm 2 ).
