Silver Co‐Firable Li2ZnTi3O8 Microwave Dielectric Ceramics with LZB Glass Additive and TiO2 Dopant

Abstract: New dielectric ceramics are prepared by the conventional solid-state ceramic route. Effects of LZB glass on sintering, phase purity, microstructure, and dielectric properties of Li 2 ZnTi 3 O 8 ceramics have been investigated. Adding LZB lowers sintering temperature from 1050°C to 875°C, and does not induce much degradation of dielectric properties. The 1.0 wt% LZB glass-added ceramic has better properties of e r = 23.9, Q 9 f = 31,608 GHz, τ f = À14.3 ppm/°C. Additions of TiO 2 markedly improve microwave prop… Show more

“…When the H 3 BO 3 doping amount increased from 1.0 to 10.0 wt%, the s f value of specimens sintered at 1000°C was observed to increase persistently from 9.2 to 17.8 ppm/°C . As we know, the s f value of a composite ceramics was related to the composition, additives and second phase of the ceramics [9,24]. It is reasonable to believe that the change of phase composition that resulted from H 3 BO 3 doping was the main cause of s f value growth.…”

“…To explore the chemical compatibility of LMAT (x = 0.8) ceramic with the silver electrode, 20 wt% silver powders were mixed and homogenized with the calcined powders [16], and then the mixture was pressed into pellets and fired at 925°C for 2 h. The XRD analysis and microstructural study were conducted by SEM coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS).…”

“…The microwave dielectric loss can be attributed to not only intrinsic factors but also extrinsic factors such as second phases, oxygen vacancies, grain sizes and densification or porosity. [18][19][20] Therefore, the decrease of Q×f value is probably caused by the amount of trapped porosity and abnormal grain growth, which can be demonstrated by the SEM images, shown in Fig. 2.…”

“…In order to tune the τƒ value to zero ppm/℃, TiO2-added Li2ZnTi3O8 ceramics with glass addition was investigated by Hou et al and Chen et al. 18,19 Moreover, the effects of TiO2 ratio on the phase composition and microwave dielectric properties of Li2ZnTi3+xO8+2x ceramics were also studied by Li et al, and the τƒ value could be modified to near zero ppm/℃. 20 More recently, Li2ZnTi3O8-Li2TiO3 ceramic was investigated by Wu et al.…”
