Silver Nanoclusters Encapsulated into Metal–Organic Frameworks with Enhanced Fluorescence and Specific Ion Accumulation toward the Microdot Array-Based Fluorimetric Analysis of Copper in Blood

Abstract: Silver nanoclusters (AgNCs) were first coated with bovine serum albumin (BSA) and then encapsulated into porous metal-organic frameworks of ZIF-8 by the protein-mediated biomineralization process. Unexpectedly, the fluorescence intensities of the yielded AgNCs-BSA@ZIF-8 nanocomposites were discovered to be continuously enhanced during each of the BSA coating and ZIF-8 encapsulation steps. Compared to common AgNCs, greatly improved photostability and storage stability of AgNCs could also be expected. More impor… Show more

“…The CDs@Eu-DPA MOFs had two kinds of fluorescence emission peaks which derived from CDs and Eu-DPA MOFs. In 2018, Ag NCs were first coated with bovine serum albumin (BSA) and then encapsulated into ZIF-8 to yield the Ag NCs-BSA@ZIF-8 nanocomposites for the fast and sensitive evaluation of Cu 2+ ions [149].…”

“…These materials are useful in catalysis, separations, sensors, and recently, as non-toxic vehicles for drug delivery. [19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27] We and others have described a specific type of MOF called ZIF-8, 28, 29 composed exclusively of zinc metals interconnected by methylimidazole ligands, that crystallize "biomimetically" on a variety of biomacromolecules including soluble proteins, polysaccharides, viruses, and whole cells. [30][31][32][33][34][35][36] For this study, we used CFT073, a model urosepsis strain of UPEC frequently employed in the development of new vaccines.…”

“…To date, a growing number of research works focused on enriching the biological application of MOF‐based nanocomposites such as DNA/RNA sensing, [ 22 ] ions detection, [ 23‐24 ] enzyme activity detection, [ 25‐26 ] cancer diagnosis and tumor treatment in vivo . [ 27‐29 ] However, there is few review aiming at introducing the application and development of bioimaging of MOF‐based nanocomposites in living cells and in vivo .…”
