Silver Sulfadiazine: Lack of Mutagenic Activity

Abstract: Silver sulfadiazine was found to be devoid of mutagenic potential in a sensitive mutagenicity assay using Salmonella typhimurium. In view of the close relationship between mutagenicity in this system and carcinogenicity in animals, these findings suggest that silver sulfadiazine is apparently also devoid of carcinogenic properties.
