El objetivo de este estudio fue revisar cuáles son los exámenes de imagen más requeridos, sus características y si la elección principal es suficiente para el manejo de la lesión. Se realizaron búsquedas en las bases de datos PubMed, Web of Science y Scopus. Los artículos incluidos eran informes de casos o series de casos de quistes óseos aneurismáticos en la mandíbula o el maxilar que tenían toda la información sobre el caso, desde el diagnóstico hasta el seguimiento. Los 32 artículos incluidos mostraron que el primer examen de imagen requerido es el examen radiográfico panorámico de los casos, y solo unos pocos eligen la tomografía computarizada como primera opción. El tratamiento elegido suele ser el curetaje, y 9 casos presentaron recidivas, aunque 17 no informaron del seguimiento. Los exámenes de imagen 2D fueron el tipo más requerido a la hora de diagnosticar un quiste óseo aneurismático, pero los exámenes 3D fueron necesarios en muchos casos para una mejor evaluación y para proporcionar más detalles.

Introdução: O cisto ósseo simples é uma lesão benigna intra-óssea considerada um pseudocisto, de etiologia incerta, crescimento lento, radiograficamente radiolúcida e de tratamento simples. Porém, pode fazer diagnóstico diferencial com outras lesões mais agressivas, e a ausência ou tênue presença de uma cápsula cística prejudica seu diagnóstico histopatológico. Objetivo: discutir os detalhes dos achados clínicos, radiográficos, histopatológicos e cirúrgicos para o cisto ósseo simples, bem como, o acompanhamento e o desfecho de um caso em corpo mandibular. Material e Método: Estudo descritivo de relato de caso. Resultados: foi realizada exploração cirúrgica e ostectomia periférica em lesão mandibular radiolúcida, observando-se no trans-cirúrgico discreta presença de material intralesional enviado para análise histopatológica. Conclusão: apesar do tratamento ser simples, o diagnóstico do cisto ósseo simples continua sendo um desafio, onde a exploração cirúrgica é o método mais preciso de diagnóstico e tratamento, mas a avaliação histopatológica é indispensável para exclusão de outras patologias.Descritores: Cistos Ósseos; Mandíbula; Diagnóstico.ReferênciasWorld Health Organization (WHO). Radiological Evaluation Key to Diagnosis of Idiopathic Solitary Cyst

Idiopathic solitary cysts have a predilection for long bones and the mandible. Although the origin of these cysts is unclear, the prognosis seems to be good, given proper diagnosis and surgical treatment. A 14-year-old female patient with a bone lesion in the right mandibular ramus was referred to the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the Medical University of Gdansk, Poland. Due to severe headache lasting two days, the patient had previously undergone magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination of the head. A unilocular bone cyst in the mandible was discovered incidentally. Comparison with a previous orthopantomogram (OPG) taken two years earlier for routine dental treatment revealed a clearly visible but smaller bone lesion at the same location. Surgery was carried out in order to achieve bone regeneration. This report documents the importance of careful evaluation and assessment of all radiographs taken, as the lesion could have been diagnosed and treated much earlier, thus lowering the risk of complications.
