Simple Knee Value: a simple evaluation correlated to existing knee PROMs

Abstract: Purpose The Simple Knee Value (SKV) is an outcome score in which patients are asked to grade their knee function as a percentage of that of a normal knee. The primary aim of this study was to validate the SKV by measuring its correlation with existing knee-related PROMs. Methods This was a prospective study conducted at a teaching hospital to assess the SKV's validity. The study enrolled 47 young patients (16-54 years old), 49 older patients (≥ 55 years) and 30 healthy controls. A paper questionnaire consistin… Show more

“…The functional outcomes at 1 year postoperatively consisted of the Simple Knee Value, 31 Lysholm score, postoperative Tegner score, change in Tegner score from preoperatively, Anterior Cruciate Ligament-Return to Sport after Injury, and International Knee Documentation Committee score. The return-to-sports rate and time to return to sports after surgery were also compiled.…”

“…the Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) is a self‐score of 0 to 100%, assessing the patient's symptoms and function on their knee with degenerative pathology, including 5 categories [27]. Satisfaction was assessed by the subjective Knee value (SKV) by questioning the patients about the results of the operation (SKV; from 0 to 100%, 100% being a perfect knee) [26]. The International Knee Society (IKS) score was evaluated postoperatively and includes a subjective of 100 points (IKS Function), and an objective score of 100 points (IKS Knee) [13].…”

“…Patient satisfaction was assessed using the Subjective Knee Value (SKV). Patients are asked to grade the results of the operation (SKV; from 0 to 100%, 100% being a perfect knee) [21]. The International Knee Society (IKS) score was evaluated postoperatively and consists of a 100‐point subjective score (IKS Function) and a 100‐point objective score (IKS Knee) [9].…”
