Simple method for generating special beams using polarization holography

Abstract: Vector vortex beams are a kind of special beam that simultaneously carry spin and orbital angular momentum. The generation of vector vortex beams usually requires a complex and expensive optical system, which becomes a bottleneck hindering its further application. Thus, a compact, low-cost and efficient special beam generation system is demanded. In this paper, a method that can produce vector vortex beams distributed anywhere in the equator of hybrid-order Poincaré Spheres based on polarization holography is … Show more

“…Since PQ/PMMA photopolymers were proposed, they have received great attention in holographic recording, especially in holographic data storage. In addition, PQ/PMMA can be used for the generation of optical components, such as polarizers [ 130 ], vector light fields [ 68 ], and vortex beams [ 131 ]. In this paper, we reviewed the development of PQ/PMMA and described its thermal and photoreaction processes and holographic characteristics in detail.…”

“…[42] Here, we proposed an efficient large-area fabrication technique for LC lens based on the polarization holographic exposure method. [43,44] By adding a magnifying lens set into Sagnac interferometer, [45,46] the interferometric vector field for photoalignment is magnified, resulting in a non-contact, long-term stable vector field with a high throughout. Compared to the previous interference setups, the required template in our designed optical setup is much smaller than the sample to be processed, shown in Figure 1.…”

“…By introducing the polarization characteristics into conventional holography, more degrees of freedom can be provided to control the optical information [21,22] . In recent years, with the development of tensor polarization holography theory, it is possible to use polarization holography to manufacture polarization elements, such as circular polarized wave generator [23] , vortex light field generator [24][25][26] , Stokes parameter detection grating [27] , etc. By comparing these studies, we find that compared with the production of metasurface lens, it is relatively simple to make polarization elements through polarization holography, and has a very low cost.…”
