Simplified FDD Process Model

Abstract: Feature driven development (FDD) is a process oriented and client centric agile software development model which develops a software according to client valued features. Like other agile models it also has adaptive and incremental nature to implement required functionality in short iterations. FDD mainly focus on designing and building aspects of software development with more emphasis on quality. However less responsiveness to changing requirements, reliance on experienced staff and less appropriateness for s… Show more

“…A simplified FDD process model was introduced in [17] to overcome its limitations (i.e., less responsiveness to changes, reliance on experienced staff and less appropriateness for small scale projects). There were 14 research papers that were discussed in [17]. Several processes were proposed in those papers but none overcame all of its limitations.…”

“…The issues of pair programming and on-site customer are handled in an effective way. On the other hand, SFDD [12] was proposed to overcome the limitations of FDD such as explicit dependency on experienced staff, little or no guidance for requirement gathering, rigid nature to accommodate changes in requirements, heavy development structure. SFDD focused on small to medium scale projects along with an effective requirement elicitation technique of story cards which simplified the requirement change process.…”

“…These models follow the values, principles and practices given by agile manifesto which is considered a parent document of all agile models and contains twelve foundation principles of software development. XP and FDD, both are the widely used agile models in software industry [12], [40]. XP was developed by Kent Beck and mainly focuses to overcome the limitations of traditional software process models.…”
