Simplified Quantification and Acquisition Protocol for 123I-MIBG Dynamic SPECT

Abstract: Previous studies have demonstrated the feasibility of absolute quantification of dynamic I-metaiodobenzylguanidine (I-MIBG) SPECT imaging in humans. This work reports a simplified quantification method for dynamic I-MIBG SPECT using practical protocols with shortened acquisition time and voxel-by-voxel parametric imaging. Twelve healthy human volunteers underwent five 15-min dynamic SPECT scans at 0, 15, 90, 120, and 180 min after I-MIBG injection. List-mode SPECT data were binned into 29 frames and reconstruc… Show more

“…H/M ratios from either 2D planar or 3D SPECT are just surrogates of V T . This imaging technique was further developed with simplified kinetic model and shortened acquisition time for clinical 123 I-mIBG imaging in both healthy humans and heart failure patients (Wu et al 2018). Robust myocardial V T values and high-quality parametric V T images could be obtained using a simplified model, i.e.…”
