Simulating TSN traffic scheduling and shaping for future automotive Ethernet

Abstract: The broadening range of applications for vehicles has motivated the evolution of the automotive communication network. Ethernet has been deployed in production vehicles to build invehicle networks (IVN) by main manufacturers. To extent Ethernet with real-time service for future E/E architecture, a time-sensitive networking (TSN) profile for automotive Ethernet has been created. This paper evaluates the implementation of multiple traffic scheduling and shaping mechanisms in the automotive Ethernet, respectively… Show more

“…Z. Zhou et al analyzed multiple traffic scheduling and shaping mechanisms in automotive Ethernet. In addition, the authors introduced a time-sensitive networking (TSN)-based test model and analyzed the latency performance [20]. A study conducted in [21] provides an overview of the latency characteristics of IVNs and analysis methods.…”

“…Time synchronization is crucial for the normal operation of the TAS protocol. All devices participating in TAS must synchronize their clocks to ensure that each device is scheduled and shaped under the same time base [15]. The TAS protocol uses a time triggering method to manage data transmission.…”

“…However, the security policy makes it difficult to obtain this detailed information. We refer to IVN structural dimensions data provided by OEM and [ 16 , 17 , 18 , 19 , 20 , 21 , 22 ] to design DIA and ZIA proposed in this section. The wiring harnesses have different numbers of sockets, connectors, and wires, depending on their function.…”
