Simulation Analysis of Seed Metering Procedure in Scoop Metering Device Based on Discrete Element Method

Abstract: Seed metering procedure of metering device was a key factor to affect performance of precision seed metering device. Based on analysis of seed holding volume of metering scoop, relationship between the seed holding volume and structure parameters of the metering scoop was established, and beginning and ending angles of seed clearing during the seed metering procedure were determined. Simulation analysis of seed metering procedure with different parameters of the metering device was carried out by mean of discr… Show more

“…To reflect the practical value of the established maize seed assembly model, in this section, the model is used to optimize the performance of the spoon precision seed metering device. Referring to the literature [38,39,45], the RSSW, HA, and SR are selected as experimental factors. A reasonable range of 7-9 mm for SR is obtained by means of DEM simulation tests, while the ranges for RSSW and HA are obtained by consulting the manufacturer and the design specifications, and the value of each factor is listed in Table 4.…”

“…Material motion conditions were visually observed through computer programming simulation, which was easy to operate and the results of which were easy to handle. Initial exploration with circular granule can satisfy the simulation requirements [3] , but complicated exterior of corn seed is not able to accurately reflect its real motion conditions.…”
