Simulation and Optimization of the Multi-Stage Reconnection Electromagnetic Launch

Abstract: The reconnection electromagnetic launcher utilizes the interaction between the projectile eddy current and the coil magnetic field to accelerate the projectile. A reconnection launch experimental system using the box-shaped helical coils and the flat-plate projectile has been fabricated. Capacitor banks are used as the power supplies. The inductance gradient curve-fitting is performed on the basis of the measured data from the launch apparatus. Based on the circuit equation and the motion equation of the recon… Show more

“…Figure 1 shows a schematic diagram of a simple parallel gun which composed by one driven coil and one induced aluminum plate, and discharging the driven coil while the back of aluminum plate overlap with the inner wall of driven coil, the aluminum plate will have the maximum thrust [10,11]. Build a simulation model according to Figure 1 in Ansoft.…”

“…In 1970s, some Indian scholars did experiments on the TVS coated with dielectric or semiconductor [7]. Afterward, the application in the fields of synthetic making test and electromagnetic launch accelerated the further development of TVS [8]- [10]. TVS can be divided into two types according to the differences of trigger structure, i.e., field-breakdown TVS and surface-breakdown TVS [6].…”

“…11 The second aspect is to study the influence of device structure parameters, 14 trigger position, excitation size and additional parameters on electromagnetic force. 13,15 The single-stage 15 and multi-stage electromagnetic launch weft insertion 16 are configured with the exit velocity as the main evaluation index. The third aspect is to establish a surrogate model between the exit speed and additional parameters through machine learning and optimize the weft insertion performance through the surrogate model.…”
