Abstract:We present a simulation-assisted methodology for the design of point or distributed fiber dosimeters exploiting the linear dependence of the infrared radiation-induced attenuation of a single-mode phosphosilicate optical fiber. We demonstrate by comparing Monte Carlo simulations and experiments at different irradiation facilities (X-rays, -rays, protons and atmospheric neutrons) that the sensitivity coefficient of this fiber is independent on the nature of particles and on dose rate, at least up to total ioni… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
