Simulation of dual stage thulium-doped fiber amplifier using pump power distribution technique

Abstract: <span>This paper shows dual stage thulium-doped fiber amplifiers (TDFAs) that use a pump power distribution technique. Simulations were done with signals ranging from 1975 nm to 2000 nm using the OptiSystem v.13 software. The results required were gathered from the software. The results of gain, noise figure, optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) and output power were obtained. The highest gain and lowest noise figure results were achieved for the double pass dual stage TDFA configuration with values of 1… Show more

“…Another study method for the same purpose is the examination of various pumping methods 17–21 . To excite all thulium ions, dual‐stage designs and distributed pumping techniques are fulfilled 22 . Some studies show that the gain values can be increased with the help of a mirror or a circulator.…”

“…Alternative system designs using simulations are carried out to get optimal results [5][6][7][8]. Through the pump card data, it is necessary to adjust the parameter values on the rod pump to obtain the ideal pump (optimal) [9].…”
