Simultaneous BOP selection and controller design for the FCC process

Abstract: The objective of Backed-off Operating Point (BOP) selection is to determine controller target setpoints that are close to the Optimal Steady-State Operating Point (OSSOP), while being a sufficient distance from constraints, to accommodate the impact of disturbances on plant dynamics. In this work we use the Fluidized Catalytic Cracking (FCC) process to compare two BOP selection methods recently presented in the literature. The general conclusion is that the simultaneous BOP selection and controller design appr… Show more

“…This monopolistic structure, as those ones described in [17], can generate useful synergies incrementing the efficiency of both markets. For instance, marketing campaigns from OMIP to attract agents active in OMEL (582 producers, 94 suppliers, and four intensive industries, according to [47]) could help to equilibrate OMIP agents' structure, producing liquidity growth and increasing the market competition. OMIP and OMIClear approved their respective Ethic Codes in July 6, 2009, amended on May 18, 2010, in order to strengthen their governance structures and supervisory capabilities, promoting and guaranteeing the transparency and competition amongst all the participants.…”

“…In particular, the issues of disturbance modeling, measurement feedback, soft constraints, and computational delay are all elucidated. Use of ELOC and constrained ELOC within a variety of other applications can be found in Ong et al (2010), Omell and Chmielewski (2010, Chmielewski (2010, 2013), Chmielewski (2012, 2015).…”
