Simultaneous determination of aflatoxins B1, B2, G1, G2inFructus Bruceaeby high-performance liquid chromatography with online postcolumn photochemical derivatization

Abstract: A simple, reliable, and highly sensitive method for the simultaneous determination of aflatoxin B1 , B2 , G1 , G2 in Fructus Bruceae was developed using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to online postcolumn photochemical derivatization and fluorescence detection. Aflatoxins were first extracted by a methanol/water mixture and then cleaned up with an AflaTest™ immunoaffinity column. Different clean-up and derivatization methods were compared and optimized. The established method was extensively va… Show more

“…AFs have been detected using HPLC with fluorescence detection (FLD) by the enhancement of aflatoxins G1 (AFG1) and B1 (AFB1) signals with pre‐ or post‐column derivatization methods . Due to the lack of natural fluorescence in DON, its determination in food and feed was based mainly on the use of HPLC or GC coupled with MS , while HPLC with diode array detection (DAD) is rarely used .…”

“…Hence our understanding of these materials should be strengthened to develop aflatoxin (AF) detection methods to ensure the safety of TCMs. Currently, detection methods exist for the monitoring of AF contamination in some TCMs 9 10 such as licorice roots, fritillary bulbs, Fructus Bruceae , but comprehensive and systematic investigations on TCMs are lacking.…”

“…At present, the main technologies regarding the determination of mycotoxins are based on chromatography, such as HPLC [89] and LC-MS/MS [90]. The methods of sample extraction include magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) [91], solid-phase extraction (SPE) [92], and liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) [93].…”
