Simultaneous determination of glyphosate, glufosinate ammonium and their metabolites in maize and soybean by ultra-performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry

Abstract: This study established an effective analytical method for the direct simultaneous determination of GLY, N-acetyl-GLY, AMPA, N-acetyl-AMPA, GLU, NAG, and 3-MPPA in soybean and maize, which will contribute to the scientific regulation of GLY and GLU.

“…Various matrices often contain a variety of impurities that need to be removed with different purifying agents, such as PSA, GCB, C 18 , florisil, 27–30 etc. Among them, C 18 can adsorb non-polar interferences with long carbon chains, including fats; PSA can remove some polar interferences, such as organic acid impurities; GCB can remove non-polar interferences, primarily targeting pigments.…”

“…The addition of a suitable amount of formic acid to the extraction solvent can improve the recovery rate. 22,27 In this study, three extraction solvents, methanol, ACN, and 0.2% formic acid in acetonitrile, were compared to select the appropriate extraction solvent. The results showed that the recovery rate of methanol as extraction solvent was lower than 50% for most pesticides, while the recovery rate of cypermethrin, beta-cypermethrin, and difenocarb was higher than 120% when 0.2% FA was used.…”

“…Understanding these changes can help us develop genetic markers that may reveal glyphosate contamination without the need to detect and quantify glyphosate itself, a laborious procedure that is both costly and requires specialized equipment ( 18 ).…”
